This week we had Festival of the Arts. We had lots of performances by other people and students. We had a performance by the Silence Theatre where they don’t talk only use their facial and body movements to tell us a story. I didn’t really understand what they were telling us but it was a bit funny. One of the days we had a performance by Ringo Chan and the Hong Kong Flute Quartet. They played lots of songs. I really liked the last song they played. Then there was the Teacher’s showcase where the teachers show their talents. One teacher sang Memory , it was like the same the original recording. Then there was Andrew Woo, a Filmmaker who came in and showed us his trailer for his new movie ,Snow flower and the secret fan. he answered questions we had for him. Student’s showcase was great, the best part was when someone played the electric guitar and accompanied by a teacher playing the drums, everyone liked the music they played.people were singing and some playing the piano. I am looking forward to the cook-off between the teachers.
A fireman at the Sheng Wan fire station showed the media how the Scout Gas monitoring device works. The Fire Services Department issued the new device last month. There has been no reports of manufunction.

Today we went to school with our parents for the SLLR. We had to explain what we did , the teachers wern’t here. they were just monitoring us
We made artifacts for a day we will bury it. First we had to research on what we wanted to make, at first I wanted to make something from Ancient Rome but the designs were too hard, at last I chose the Parthenon to be my artifact. We were using clay to make our artifacts so our teacher taught us how to use the clay tools. We got some newspapers to put on the table because clay is very dirty and dusty. We also got water because clay usually dry very fast and it will crumble. We each got half a block of clay to start with, if we needed more we would ask our teacher for more. First , I made a base for the Parthenon, I used my prior clay making skills to flatten it and to make it square shaped. After I made some little poles for my Parthenon, this was the easiest part because you have to just roll some clay. After I made another base so I can stick it to my poles. Sticking the second base to the poles was the hardest part, you have to use a tool to spread out the poles clay on the base so it will stick. On the second base, I put a triangle and two side and rectangles on the other two sides.I was the last person who was still working on the artifact because it was a big structure. After 5 days of drying, we painted them , there was lots of colours like cooper and gold . I used sliver to paint the whole thing. Look at the dig day article.
Our grade trip to South Bay was fun.We took the school buses to the beach. We had to make artifacts so the teachers can break it then burry it. Our job was to find the artifacts buried under the sand. There was five groups, The Armadillos, The Bananas, The Crabs, The Dinosaurs and The Experts. We were all assigned plots so we could dig, and the people in the group were assigned to places in the plot to dig. Most of the artifacts weren’t that deep about 10cm and the deepest 50cm. We coulnd’t dig so deep with our hands so we asked the teacher to use the big shovel to shovel out more sand. We found 4 artifacts unfinished but the last one was not found yet. Even though we asked the teacher to dig it again but we had no luck.It was almost lunch time so sat on the sand or in the pavement, we ate the chart-wells-provided lunch while some others ate their own home lunch. After lunch people played with their bare feet, I think those people were not thinking because you have to clean your feet afterwards. Finally we went back to school on our school bus.
The trip to the Museum of Costal Defence was a very cool trip. I didn’t except some much exhibits for a museum built on a fort. There was different time periods for different exhibits. How did they preserve artifacts like guns and torpedos for us to look at, I wonder how they do that. There was a lots of cannon displays and tanks displays in the outside part of the museum . They talked different periods of time like the Ming Period where they showed the beautiful gold uniform. There was also guns they showed like an old Japanese sniper rifle and some other things like paper written in that time. the best part was the torpedo part, they had a replica of the Bremen torpedo used to shoot the enemy in the harbor. The cinema was also good they talked about China a small country at that time. They used soldiers they dressed like the Ming, and they talked about how it evolved. It was a good trip to the Museum of Costal Defence, I would suggest you go because it gives you lots of information on the time periods like the Japanese Occupation.
I think Night of the Museuem 2 is good because it talks about a evil Egytian ruler trying to take over the world. Larry Darry and the statue of Amelia Earheart try to save the world with the help of other museum artifacts. You can buy this movie on DVD of Blu-ray. I think you should watch this.
I just discovered that Debroah Ellis books were good. The Breadwinner and I am a Taxi examples of great Debroah Ellis Books. I think you should also try these books. Ages:8 and up
